Humble Special. The luxury of enough: what we need is simpler than we think.
Our second anniversary issue is dedicated to asking exactly what we need, and how much is enough?
On the cover: a stalky prefabricated house, not quite bach and not quite house, on Waiheke Island by Hamish Stirrat of Fabricate Architecture and Natalie Parke of Dessein Parke, with some particularly lovely use of colour.
Also! Mike Hartley Lloyd Hartley Architects ponders the luxury of enough in his own renovation of a standard bungalow; Patchwork Architecture shows how good townhouse living can be; Beth Cameron and Jae Warrander of Makers of Architecture make elegant use of a suburban site for their own home and two others... And Hamish Cameron crafts a beautiful house for two with sustainability in mind in the trees above Hobson Bay.
Elsewhere: we feature a surf-lifesaving tower at Piha by Crosson Architects; we visit Tom's sandwich shop in Ōtautahi Christchurch, and Michael Lett opens a second space next door.
