Back in February, we featured the delightful home and studio of Shane Kingsbeer and fiancée Kate O’Connor in the gentrifying Ballance Street, just outside Whataupoko, downtown Gisborne.
The couple has built on a site that accommodates a studio for Kingsbeer, and a house for themselves and their young family. “Being present is more important than anything,” says Kingsbeer. “I just don’t want to go all day without seeing my daughters.”
Set back on the site, with neighbours close by, the house looks inward to a lush courtyard and forward to a flat lawn – it’s compact but generous, with great light and excellent custom cabinetry. It’s one of our favourites – we look forward to seeing you there.
Note: our Open Home series has been designed specifically to operate safely at Covid Level-2, with small groups, social distancing and QR scanning as standard.
